This Blog has been created to provide news on the New College Village. This new residential community at the University of New South Wales (Sydney) opened on January 5th 2009.
Here is a view of the NCV site that few would have seen. Note the position of the NCV site relative to New College. The NCV site is on the corner of Day Avenue and Anzac Parade. It is in the top left-hand side of the picture. The University Mall is visible as is the Round House. The site is shown here with a number of buildings (none will be standing by this afternoon).
The New College Village is an initiative of New College at UNSW. This residential building was opened to residents on the 5th January 2009. It has been developed by New College which commenced its operations in 1969 on the original site which is diagonally opposite. The NCV is designed primarily for postgraduate students and consists of 319 bedrooms in two formats - studio apartments and 5-6 bedroom shared apartments. It has many shared spaces designed to facilitate community, including 14 common rooms on its 7 floors, a rooftop terrace, a large games room, a business centre, a convenience store, a reading room, two courtyards and a large ground floor common room. It has a strong team of academic tutors and pastoral care staff.
